Happy Day!!

Last weekend we bought a refrigerator and took it up to the cabin!  Happy Day - no more coolers in the cabin for food!  For a few days it was the only thing in the kitchen then . . . .

Cameron had a free day and started installing the cabinets.  They look awesome.  They will look even more awesome when he is finished with the crown moulding and doors.  We will schedule countertops after the first of next week.  Then those cabinets will start getting filled!
Also last weekend Josh and Kody tag teamed to hang the light fixture above the stairway.  They did a great job even though they were complaining about how high it was!

The finished project!  It will look better once the rock is finished on the
fireplace.  That's RaNel's next undertaking.

More Progress

Last year when we were so focused on the plumbing and electrical, it seemed like nothing changed from time to time working at the cabin.  This year there is a change each time we go up.  The handrail was so light, so I decided to stain it dark to match the doors and king posts.
As I was staining, there was a place that something had gotten spilled on the log and it showed up after the stain was on, so I had to sand it down to get rid of the mark.  As I was doing that, I really liked the look that I got as I sanded, so I decided to distress the whole banister!  Brancen helped with the sanding.
After so much hard work on the banister, we took some time out for "Dancing with Grandma"!  He learned really quick!

Jane and Mindy painted the bathroom doors so that the knobs could be put on.

Now we have HOT water and we can shower!  If you just look in the bathrooms, you would think that the project was all done!

The interior logs are all sprayed and so now painting on the sheetrock walls can begin.  Mindy got her bedroom wall primed and partially painted.  We have the kitchen ready for color as well as the main floor hallway.  Part of the stairway is ready also.

Now that the logs and ceiling are stained the lights can go up.
All the bedrooms now have the lights and fans up.

We even have a wall decoration up.  Of course it is a clock for the kitchen.
We need to know if it's time to eat yet!

The Handrail is in

The handrail is in and it is much safer at the cabin now.  From this angle it kind of looks like a big crib!

It is hand peeled pine.
I love the look of the chunky posts.

Real Progress!

We now have counter tops on the vanities in the bathrooms.
Faucets are there, but we haven't had time to install them yet.
And Tub surrounds in all three bathtubs.  Next week when the power gets fixed
we will even have hot water for a real shower!
Josh and Kody worked on power for the downstairs bathroom.  Now you don't have
to go potty in the dark!

One downstairs bedroom has a green wall
One downstairs bedroom has a red wall
But most exciting, the red bedroom has a real bed!  We slept very comfortably for
 three nights there last weekend!
Next up is spraying the rest of the downstairs walls and more painting.
Who knows, maybe by this fall we will be ready for carpet!

Working again!

We had the road plowed out about three weeks ago and we've been back to work again!  We got the floor tile laid in the two bathrooms upstairs and also in one of the downstairs bathrooms.  All three bathrooms now have the toilets set and the best news of all . . . . . . water is in the pipes so you can flush and not have to haul water in by the bucketful!!!
Here is a shot of the floor tile.

The cabinet guy (Cameron) got the vanity's installed in the three bathrooms.  This next week they will come and measure for the tub surrounds and the vanity tops.  The doors and drawer fronts will be installed later.

The guy came today and started installing the railing on the 2nd level.
He got all the posts sets and he measured for the railings to go inbetween each post.
Looking down the stairs.  He builds the sections going in between the posts and them brings them up assembled and installs them.  Won't take long now!

The Roof is Finished!

The roof is finally done!  Now it really can snow.  Things are officially shut down for the winter.

This picture is looking toward the back of our property.  The wood pile is on the right.  Notice anything missing??

The porta-potty!  That's right!  No more porta potty.  It's official, we have a potty inside the cabin.  We have to haul water in to flush it, but that's better than the outside one!

Insulation and Sheetrock

The insulation was completed last week and the sheetrock has been hung.  Monday the taping crew will begin.  By Thanksgiving we should have walls ready to paint - if I'm ready to paint!  They will probably wait until spring!

This is from the bottom of the stairs in the basement looking up the stairs to go to the main level.  It is weird to see it closed in after being able to see through the walls for a year!

This is looking under the stairs.  The grandkids liked to play under here already.  Now they will love the new room!

This is looking at the space above the bathooms in the bedrooms upstairs.  It will be a great place to store things - or kids!

Looking into the bathroom upstairs from the hallway.

This is the view from the front door on the main level looking upstairs.  You can still see the open chimney of the fireplace.  This will get wafer board and stone all around so you see stone from both the front and the back.

It is really looking like a place to live now and not just a log box with see through walls.  Bring on the Snow!
